As one might consider, the Catholic Church has a strong belief on premarital sex. Especially when examining the Bible. In the bible it states, ```Have you not read, ` said Jesus, `that He who made them at the beginning `made them male and female, ` and said, `For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh`` (Matthew 19:4-5; quoting from Genesis 1:27, 2:24). This passage can be interpreted that sex is for marriage and marriage is for sex. Through this, the two-people become one flesh.[6] The church views the entire process and concept of marriage as two people who love each other coming together as one flesh. In this they are now allowed the privilege to display their love for each other in a new physical way. The way in which the creation of their children takes place. The church believes that the main purpose of marriage is to start a family, which obviously must be done through sex.

The bible also teaches that those who participate in premarital sex are sinners and shall be judged by God. It teaches, ``Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. `` (Hebrews 13:4).[7] In this passage it states the importance of keeping the marriage bed pure. In addition, it also compares the act of adultery to sexually immoral acts. The church continues these beliefs even today. Adultery is still an act they look down upon therefore premarital sex is something they will also look down upon.

The act of premarital sex has been a controversial topic for centuries. However, as time evolves and society changes, so should the view of premarital sex. Society is slowly starting to accept more things and premarital sex should be one of them. It should be an individual choice whether a person wants to wait until marriage to have sex or have it before. It is an issue that is completely up to them and should be respected by all due to it an individual choice. By observing the egoism ethical system, it can be clearly seen that premarital sex is not negative, and in fact is a positive and healthy choice for most people. Following the Natural law should not be enforced on everyone. It should simply be one’s choice on whether this is an important thing they wish to include in their life decisions. As times begin to change, the church should work in a way to accept more people and not guilt anyone. If one feels guilty because they went against the teaching of the bible, they may turn their back from God all together.
