According to News Staff, Woman fear that attending the gym late or going for a jog, they are more likely to be attacked by someone in the streets. Some woman lack the social support from their families and friends and feel uncomfortable asking for help. “African-American women feel it is more culturally acceptable for them to be heavier than Caucasian women. American Indian women said their communities often frowned upon women who did "purposeful exercise" rather than chores or other cultural physical activities.” (Elyer, 2002).

In conclusion, males attend the gym more frequent than females. Through observation, males attended the gym more. Through research, males attend more to stay healthy and maintain their health and weight at a certain level. Society is what holds females back and females feel as if they are a burden at times with doing what they want or asking for time to attend the gym because of raising a family or dealing with work. The desire is there but the lack of motivation is what holds back majority of females from attending the gym.
