This was two months after the Mark on Pearl Harbour and it brought Australia closer than ever to war. The fall of Singapore defiantly marked a timing point in far Eastern history. It showed that the Far East was no longer safe, and that there was no longer a relationship between the eastern and western people. During the Fall of Singapore Japan managed to force Me Britain's to surrender and because they were so intimidating and dangerous the Britain's only survival point was to surrender.

Firstly, with Britain recovering after its best defeat of all time, Australia had to reconsider its position in the Empire. Australia's fear of invasion had turned into total war. They had made an alliance with America to hold back the unstoppable Japanese force, and of course this had a major affect and Australians feared for many homes and their own safety. Although many of the 100 000 troops tried to escape by making a break for it when they heard of the surrender, there were only a few boats to get a small amount of people off Me island. Most of the worn out, hungry, and sore British Empire troops resigned themselves their fate of becoming prisoners of war. But at least the long days of harsh treatment and nights of desperate fighting had come to an end.

The Fall of Singapore was a very dark day for Australians and one of the largest defeats of all time.

EVENTS THAT CHANGED THE WAR IN THE PACIFIC

The Battle of the Midway and the attack on Pearl Harbor were a big impact that were turning points against Japan. The Pearl Harbor attack just put the fuel into America as they were very determined to declare War the next day. The Battle of Midway was a massive turning point as it shows Japan that America is a force to be reckoned with and they are just as powerful as they are.
