Baghianimoghadam , Shahbazi , Boroojeni and Baghianimoghadam (2012) have done a research on the attitude and usage of mobile phone among students in yazd university of medical science. This cross sectional study was done on 245 students, were living in university dormitories of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences. In their study about 59% of students accepted that mobile phone is a cause of inappropriate relationship between boys and girls. More than 87% of participants believed that mobile phone is not an appropriate place to store information; in another study 28% were agreed and 72% disagreed this question. While about 17% of our participants believed that life without mobile phone is more comfortable, 62% didn’t have such a belief. These results are similar to some other studies.More than 23% of participants expressed that mobile phone has severe adverse effects on their study and academic achievement while 54% rejected such influence. About 19% of our participants had tried to decrease use of mobile phone but were unsuccessful. Based on the results, they have suggested that students must become familiar with advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones. This must be done by media, mobile phone companies and educational packages with sim cards by telecommunication service organizations. This can help to improve the culture of using new technological instruments and then community health promotion.

A study spear headed by Zulkefly, Sheereen N. and Baharuddin, Rozumah (2009) explored the extent of mobile phone use amongst students of Universiti Putra Malaysia. Additionally, the study determined personal and family factors related to the mobile phone use and, the relationship between mobile phone use and psychological health of students. Multi-stage cluster sampling was employed to identify the students (N=386) who completed a self-administered questionnaire. The students were found to spend on average 6 hours daily and USD18.70 monthly on their mobiles. The findings were that text message was the most used feature and peers were the most frequently contacted person. Older students used more voice calls while females text message more frequently. Male and younger students were more interested with other features (MMS and GPRS) of the mobiles. Students from higher income families spent more time and money on their mobile phone. Additional analysis showed that students with lower self-esteem and spent more time on the phone were more likely to be problem phone users. Adolescents who spend more time on their mobile phone were also more vulnerable to psychological disturbances. There is a need to further uncover underlying factors that influence students’ mobile phone behavior, and the consequences of intense mobile phone use on their psychological well-being.

Later on this will be tested through hypothesis testing whether HSC result is a good indicator for success or not.

H0: IBA MBA students do not spend much on mobile phone communication

H1: IBA MBA students spend much on mobile phone communication

We will take confidence level as 95%.

Scope

The study only shows the pattern of the students of IBA, MBA, DU. It is not an overall depiction on students of Bangladesh. IBA DU is the best business institution in Bangladesh. So the actual condition can be a little different from the outcome of the study. There could be a scope of behavioral analysis and impact on GPA analysis also.

Limitation:

The survey oriented problem can occur because of the tie variability of the batches. The total population is too high compared to the considered population. So the actual spending pattern for the whole population can be a little deviated. There is also a limitation of time.

Conclusion

In short, the study will focus on the pattern of spending, time of spending, the choice of operator and the longevity of the call which will lead to conclusion whether the students spend a lot of time on phone or not and the consequences of that behavior.
