Researchers have reiterated that the cycle of violence is a model and a learnt conduct, through various research and techniques. Links between exposure to aggression and the long-term effects like the psychosocial impact on children was further investigated by Garrido, Culhane, Petrenko, & Taussig (2011), using 141 participants, where a negative impact, in regards to psychosocial problems was proven. Psychosocial dysfunctions such as lower self esteem, anti-social behavior and the desire to dominate another person, are factors of a child growing up into an aggressive adult, all due to the link with the parenting style and the cycle of violence (Pontzer, 2010).
The limitation of questioning the research on aggressive adults with self-regulatory failure, who displayed similar types of aggression (Finkel et al., 2009) must be studied, in order to contradict that observational learning is the only reason for violence tendencies. However, the reviewed research still offers a vast insight into the significance of different types of environment exposure resulting in behavioral issues. In conclusion, from the evaluation of these reports, it is proven that observational learning does lead to aggression as the cycle of violence repeats itself due to a model and a learnt behavior from childhood.
