Education level of women influence the awareness and attitude towards domestic violence
According to Malhotra (1997) and Kishor (2000, 2004), education is a key to women’s empowerment. It has provide them more knowledge on domestic violence and given women the ability to secure in order to protect themselves from violence. Women with more education will have the greatest ability to protect themselves when dealing with their violent partner INCLEN (2000). Many women still do not understand the effect of violence, as it does not only bring physical harm to children but also adds mental and emotional detriments, said by State Women, Family, Health and Community Development chairman, Dr. Robia Kosai. Moreover, women can be trapped in violent environment and she may not know where to go to seeking for help Hester, M and Radford, L (1996). Dr. Robia also said that women could be suffered in violence and it was the women’s responsibility to educate themselves about their rights in order to protect them. Education is needed for women to change their beliefs about violence and that there are no excuses for violence. Skills and knowledge about other effective way are needed to respond to that situation F.McLaren (2010).
Socio-status of women influence the awareness and attitude towards domestic violence
The socio status is divided into three main classes which are upper, middle and lower. According to William Lloyd Warner (1949), those individuals who are categorised in the upper class are with great wealth. Moreover, the middle class consists of highly educated professionals who are with high salaries whereas the individuals who are categorised in a lower class are manual labourers with low income and permanently unemployed. Those women who refuse to leave that violent environment as they fear they may not able to cope without the financial or any practical support of their family, especially those women who have children Hester, M and Radford, L (1996). Moreover, according to Malhotra (1997) and Garcia (2000), economic independence is one the most important sources of women’s empowerment. This is because work status of women is highly related to the risk to experience domestic violence. Women who are hired as the employee has more say over financial and household matters than women who does not have financially as well as not involve in the labour market. Therefore, women with full employment are at lower risk of exposure to domestic violence.

It aims to collect information and advance on existing knowledge as well as identify the relationships between level of awareness of the woman and knowledge and the effect of domestic violence on children in Malaysia.
The purpose of the research is the descriptive research which is used to explore a problem where the methods measure results instead of making predictions as well as determine cause an effect. Besides, the information is required to investigate and look into the research problem could be get through the quantitative method. Besides, the scope of this research proposal was considered to the issue of domestic violence against women in Malaysia.
A quantitative channel is considered as the ideal method to be used for this research. It can explained by the literature review has clearly shown that this channel is diffusely used in the field of research on awareness of the woman and knowledge and the effect of domestic violence on children. Furthermore, list questions in the questionnaire are used in this research which provides a list of responses to choose from. Moreover, the research also used interviewer administered questionnaire method which the respondents answer the questions asked by the researcher. By face-to-face interview from interviewer-administrated, the researcher can clarify doubts about the necessary questions for respondents to ensure they are properly understood then give responses to the questions.
The target population of this research is conducted in Malaysia by the people either male or female who are 21 years old and above during the survey period. The cluster sampling as sampling technique is used in this research. By using cluster sampling, clusters then randomly selected and a sample is collected by randomly selecting from each cluster. The amount of sample size is 1300 in which 100 people in each state.
The interview will be carry out during the daytime from 10am to 5pm on Monday to Saturday for four weeks. The data would be collected by interviewer to Malaysia resident who are 21 years old and above. The interviewer would read out the questions to the respondents and show flashcards for the respondents to choose the responses to the interviewer.
