Improving Job Satisfaction

Spector (2012), “job satisfaction is an attitudinal variable that reflects how people feel about their jobs overall, as well as various aspects of the jobs” (p. 198). Jobs satisfaction is one of the most researched areas of workplace psychology. Job satisfaction is more than an employee enjoying their work. If a person has a positive attitude toward their job they perform better. JC’s casino employees are satisfied with the pay but not the job. Even the tasks are satisfactory. The dissatisfaction stems from the dysfunction of the job. The understaffing, the pit boss being hard to work with. The over working of the staff. There is no communication about how these problems will be resolved. There needs to be better leadership. Better communication between management and the staff. The staff should be made aware of the solution to the problem. The pit boss needs to be held accountable of how he his demeanor is affecting the staff.

Counterproductive Employee Behavior

Counterproductive behavior is employee behavior that goes against the legitimate interests of an organization. These behaviors can harm organizations or people in organizations including employees and clients, customers, or patients. It has been proposed that a person-by-environment interaction can be utilized to explain a variety of counterproductive behavior. JC’s casino has a lot of counterproductive employees behaviors. Management is not good. Employee turnover is extremely high. Joe is hard to work with. He is disrespectful to others and nothing is being done about it. He is one of the reasons individuals are seeking employment elsewhere. Attendance is not good. Employees are not happy nor do they enjoy their jobs. There is a reason behind the dysfunction at JC’s casino. Management needs to be replace if nothing is being done to fix the problems at the casino

Conclusion

For all the problems that JCs casino are facing, they can be corrected. A organization success depends on leadership and dedicated employees. Removing toxic employees or all occupational stessors can be helpful, they cause a negative impact on the organization. Better employee retention is needed. Management will have to address the situation with Joe. Although he is related to the owner he is not a good fit for the casino. He talks very badly to the other workers. Hiring more workers is a must. This will allow the administrative team to do their jobs and not clean rooms. After the much needed changes the casino should run smoothly. Retaining employees, the pit being respected and making more money.
