The American Revolution: The War for Independence. I’ve also touched on this subject in week 3. This war was an untraditional war to the British Redcoat. I once answered the question “did we really win the war” and yes ultimately we won but not by pure defeat. British eventually gave up realizing there was no point in fighting a war abroad. After taking financial hits and great casualties The British simply gave up. Well and maybe The French being Americas allies had something to do with also. It was a benefit to be fighting on our home turf against a much larger force where we can hit and hide.

The Downfall of The Federalists: “the Federalists were still clearly the dominant party, but without Washington to mediate, they fell victim to fierce factional rivalries. Adams defeated Jefferson by only three electoral votes and assumed the presidency as head of a divided party facing a powerful opposition. Jefferson became vice president because of finishing second.
(Brinkley 147)” George Washington refused to run for a third term and John Adams received the Federalist nominations but was not known to be connected any of the parties controversial achievements and without Washington they simply had no chance with the Elections of 1796.

The War of 1812: Battles with the Tribes. While America was battling and invading Canada through the Great Lakes in 1812 Chicago now but then Fort Dearborn had fell before an Indian attack. America did win some great battles by the seas however and eventually and took command of Lake Ontario. The Indians up north had suffered great loss and down south at the same time the Indians were also beaten in battles that resulted in them moving westward and leaving Florida. This was brought to them by the hands of Andrew Jackson.

Varieties of American Nationalism: The “Era of Good Feelings” Simply following the War of 1812 National Politics had found good spirits with the expansion of economy, new trades in the West, and white settlements growing. Everything seemed to be falling into place and why shouldn’t it. It was the end of the First party System.
