In today’s society, youths are unaware and uneducated about the effects internet privacy has on them as a person. Many teenagers don’t know the harm the social media is putting in their lives. They don’t know that all their data and the information is being stored onto a hard drive and can never be deleted. A teenager who shares too much personal information tends to get into trouble sometimes. Moreover, using social media steals their time and does not allow them to use their time wisely. Today’s youths are checking their social accounts every 5 minutes. So, they are wasting a lot of time by using social media. As a result, they do not pay attention to the fact that time is going very quickly, and it cannot be returned. If they read books, study, exercise, practice singing, dance or play instruments instead of using social media, it would be much better for their health and for their future life.

In conclusion, there are many positive outcomes that come out of youths using social media such as Facebook and twitter as a way of communicating. However, the negatives outweigh the positives. The negative health risks involved with the extensive use of social media are far more serious than the few positive things youths can get out of using social media as a way of connecting. In order for teenagers to benefit from social media, they need to be aware of the negatives and use social media as a form of good communication. Also, the family needs to be aware of the side effects that overuse of social media can have on their children health in the long term and start to educate their young children.
