Instead, people in the world today will argue that golf does not involve rigorous physical activity and being an athlete is not required. In the media today, Golfers are considered athletes due to the fact that between men and women golfers have been named Athlete of the year. The physical fitness that a person needs to walk from hole to hole among a long ranging course to 4 miles, is not for every person, the golfer must be in condition. Another reason that this argument is incorrect is that professional tournaments have 18 holes, consisting of 4 rounds, which takes around a weekend to finish, longing from three to four days, would burn around 4,904 calories. Golf requires rigorous physical activity and it is difficult to argue against the fact that being an athlete is required.

Although the controversies can be the topic of conversation, if people were to understand the criteria that makes Golf a sport, the possibility of changing their view on the sport is high. The criteria are that Golf is a sport because it requires physical activity. Next, it involves competition which plays for a prize of a trophy or some sort of cash money prize.
