a small studio office cramped full of editing equipment (Encyclopedia of Careers 421).” That may not sound appealing to some people, but I personally enjoy my own little space to create something new through the many opportunities technology provides. “Film and television editing requires creativity along with technical skills (Dunkleberger 72),” which is something I am able to excel in quickly. Many editors also use professional-grade software like AVID, Lightworks, and Final Cut Pro to do their jobs which are very enjoyable for me to use. Sometimes projects are require a group of people to create so an editor must “be able to work cooperatively with other creative people… and remain open to suggestions and guidance, while also maintaining confidence and holding your own opinion in the presence of other professionals (Dunkleberger 74).” However, the disadvantages of the job involve “the editor’s low rank on the totem pole of film or television industry jobs (Dunkleberger 70).” The disadvantages are rare in this career option because I have always enjoyed editing in my high school elective classes and also at home for fun.

I believe that I am capable to be a film and television editor at a university like Dallas Baptist. This career choice has plentiful opportunities and it is one that I enjoy doing. Parents, like mine, may be pleased that their children are already taking an interest in their future and would appreciate an explanation to their decision.I hope to work diligently enough to make this interest a profitable career, to make a living off of, and to be content in the end.
