Is Historical Clues More Important Than History Itself?

With the development of technology, 40 years ago 2 men, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, embarked on a voyage that was once deemed to be impossible, landing on the moon. To celebrate that milestone in human history, Louis Vuitton customized a 'Life Capsule" which is a modern version of the old trunk for a special Apollo 11 exhibition. Medication, tools, picnic wares, and a folding lounge chair for leisure activities are all put into the capsule.

However, no matter how successful LV is in the long history, our younger generation just regard it as an old fashion brand and could not understand why so many people just rush to the store and buy the same bag with big logo. The brand needs to change to adapt to the new environment or it will lose the market in the near future. The new designer does not make hundreds of thousands of fans or the Board feel disappointed.

Last year, a never-been-seen product called “petite malle” (French) which means small box is open for sell to the market, bringing big success and attracting many superstars and young generations to sing a song for the brand. The designer found inspiration from the old trunk and turn it to a smaller modern box which can be carried all day or going to a party.

According to the three examples from different industry now we can summarize that the society always faces the problem of limited resources and unlimited desires. So we can always find us facing the problems once our ancestors faced, and we can always benefit from the historical clues.
