“I know. I just want you to be happy.” She smiled, but I still could see the tears in her eyes.

“I know. I am sorry,” I said, hugging her.

“So, will you go and play with her?” my mom asked happily.

“Yes. Because I know our friendship will grow.” I replied.

After that, I went to the girl's house, and she invited me inside. I was very nervous when she asked me my name.

“What's your name?” she smiled.

“Sheri Zhu” I smiled nervously. “What 's yours?” I asked her with a smile.

“Rain Chenreansuek,” she smiled back.

When I asked her about her past, Rain sadly told me, “I was bullied a lot at school. None of my classmates liked me. I felt extremely lonely and only wanted to have a friend to talk with. I don’t ever want to go back to that experience.” “How about you?” Rain asked with a smile.

I told her about the miserable years I had spent in elementary school. “I just wanted to experience hope, but they wouldn’t let me have hope,” I smiled sadly.

“Yeah, I totally know how you feel. We have both had the same experience.” Rain said, giving me a hug.

“Yeah, you're right,” I smiled.

We spent the rest of the day talking and getting to know each other.

Finally! After so many years, I was happy again! I had met a friend whom I could trust and with whom I could discuss anything because we both had experienced rough times in the past. I realized we could become best friends because we understood each other's feelings. This was the most wonderful thing that I had ever experienced!

After that, she was no longer that quiet person sitting next to me on the first day of school. She was more energetic and talkative. I had never seen her like this before. She was happy to get along with others. Together we met made lots of new friends.

We were happy to be around each other. Suddenly, I felt happier than ever before. We both felt hope that our lives would improve.

That happened five years ago, and we still spend time together talking about everything. She is the most endearing person that I have met. We will always stay close, no matter how far apart we are or what our futures bring. We will be best friends forever.

All it took was one friend to transform my life.
