Q. How can an organization transfer ownership of the benefits and resources associated with an employee’s Windows Azure Organizational Account after the employee has left the organization?

When an employee leaves an organization and the associated account is removed from Windows Azure Active Directory, the user’s Organizational Account is automatically disabled. The organization administrator should contact Windows Azure Customer Support to transfer ownership for the disabled account. Note that the Windows Azure MSDN subscription can only be transferred to an individual who has an MSDN subscription.

Note: Disabling a user's Organizational Account does not remove their MSDN subscription. To remove the MSDN subscription of an employee who leaves the organization, see Volume Licensing Administration Help.

Q. How should organizations enforce their employees to subscribe to Windows Azure using their Organizational Accounts rather than their Microsoft accounts?

Organizations should implement a clear policy to ask MSDN subscribers to use their Organizational Accounts. The process is as follows:

- MSDN administrator assigns an MSDN subscription to an employee using the steps described in the answer to the question of ‘What is the process to administer organizational accounts to eligible organizational members?’.

- The employee is added to Windows Azure Active Directory with an Organizational Account (or through the Windows Azure Active Directory federation).

- The MSDN administrator instructs the employee to link his or her Organizational Account to Windows Azure using the steps described in the answer to the question of ‘How can eligible MSDN subscribers create an MSDN Windows Azure subscription with their Organizational Account?’.

Note: the MSDN subscription must be activated by the user first.

Q. How do I prevent employees from creating a Windows Azure account linked to their personal Microsoft accounts and not linked to an Organizational Account?

With clear policy and guidance, organizations can reduce the likelihood of this happening, but they cannot prevent it completely.

Q. How do I use this benefit if I've already created a Windows Azure subscription with a Microsoft account?

Contact the Windows Azure Customer Support to transfer the Windows Azure subscription from the Microsoft account to an Organizational Account. After Windows Azure Customer Support has confirmed this transfer, follow the steps described in the answer to the question of ‘How can eligible MSDN subscribers create an MSDN Windows Azure subscription with their Organizational Account?’.
