Based on my understanding, it was not philosophically intelligent for both Rodrigo Mendoza and father Gabriel to die. Father Gabriel stood up for himself and the rest of the native Indians that his way of fighting was putting a crucifix outside the mission and pray as the war between the native Indians and the portugese occurs. The Symbol of love plays the role in this scene. Father Gabriel also stated that’ if there is no love, I cannot be here” towards Rodrigo. The divine command theory expresses a role here. It states that it is a non-consequentialist theory that enjoins us to follow the law of god, and also that there are spiritual and natural law versions of divine command theory. If we compare each individual, based on the phases we discussed on our lecture, father Gabriel can be described as a transitional type of person, and Rodrigo as a transformational human being. Transitional describes father Gabriel because he then transitions into becoming a priest in the beginning, into becoming to fight for his mission in which he did in a very good way, but we can never intent that priest can fight. Transformational best describes Rodrigo because he first started as a serial killer, and ended up being a priest for the mission with father Gabriel. But towards the end, he disobeyed the mission by killing the portugese , in which he had been killed during the battle against them. According to hegels intent, it states that he maintains that mind, as it moves towards the ultimate wholeness and freedom. The thought behind the two individuals dying at the end is to express their knowledge and idea into seeking what the real value of person they are. Based on the ten commandments of philosophy, it states “seek simplicity”, an individual must able to seek simplicity in order to become successful in what they do in life. An individual must also conquer all human actions in order for them to live the good and to able to live the truth.

At the end of the movie, the naked boy and the other children picked up the shell of a violin. The significance behind this is that the expression of the enduring self, and the virtue of ethics towards father Gabriel for the mission is still praised. The virtue of ethics states the study of our values and moral principles and how they relate to human conduct and to our social and political institutions. Based on our class lecture, we stated that the word “Philosophy” means the love of knowledge. This relates towards the idea od why the naked boy and the other children picked up the violin, they show that the love of knowledge towards the mission and father Gabriel will always be in their hearts and that they will never forget what he had done for the rest of the native Indians. Also, based on the teleological argument, it states that there must be or probably a divine intelligence, a supreme designer to account for the observed or perceived the intelligent purpose or order. In addition, towards the end of the movie, the bishop plays a role that is stated from hegels ideas. The dialectic that is being expressed from the bishop towards the rejection of what is not rational and what is retaining to regret the decision that was made. Based on hegel, dialectic states the whole was continuously changing, and that its development takes place. The bishops face at the end of the movie showed guiltiness as he knew that he should’ve made the right decision to stand up to the fellow portuges people with a structure of his own thesis. Thesis states your own position or worldview. Based on our class lectures, the act of bonding process is also played by the bishop. The bishop also realizes that he did a bad idea of compromising, which states in order to achieve a group solution.
