HISTORY OF THE GOSPEL MUSIC

THOUSAND YEARS (1000 A.C.) BEFORE OF CHRIST

The Hebrew people praised and worshiped God with songs, musical instruments and dance. God showed his willingness to be praised in this way.

In the first centuries of Christianity, the Christian song is limited to a prayer sung a cappella, the first genre being the psalmody or psalm is sung without accompaniment of instruments. The voices for Gregorian chant must be masculine, all voices sing with identical notes.

GREGORIAN SINGING- FOURTH CENTURY (SIGLO IV)

FOURTH CENTURY (SIGLO XVII)

GOSPEL MUSIC IN AFRICAN AMERICAN CHURCHES

Gospel music originated from the spiritual songs that were forced by African slaves when they worked on the plantations. The original word is "Gospel", which in Spanish is translated as "Call of God" or "History of God." This way of singing was called like that since it was an evangelical song, to invite people to God. The letters usually reflect the values of the Christian life. It is a musical genre characterized by the dominant use of choirs with an excellent use of harmony. Subgenera include Traditional Gospel, Reggae Gospel, Black Gospel and New Gospel. Most contemporary forms of Gospel use percussion, guitars and basses. Performers: Mahalia Jackson, Golden Gate Quartet, Reverend Timothy Wright and Clara Ward. The spiritual songs they focused on texts of the New Testament and established a more direct dialogue with Jesus; with God the Father, who was grateful for the blessings received and was asked to intervene to solve their problems.

ONE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED AND THIRTY (1930) POPULARIZATION OF GOSPEL MUSIC

She was born in Arkansas, United States on March 20, 1915 and died on October 9, 1973, famous with her unique blend of spiritual lyrics and rock and roll accompaniment, trying to cross the line between sacred music and secular music by playing her spiritual music.
