This leads me into my next argument of, crime. Illegal immigrants not only bring over disease but, crime as well. Ranging anywhere from drugs to gang violence in the street. From 1994 to 2009 there have been over 9,000 deaths caused by undocumented immigrants, whether it is their own kind or innocent people being brought inti the violence('Estimates"). This is a very big number considering that they are needless deaths. If they were not here in the first place those people would still be alive today. Most of the deaths are gang violence related. This is not including any other immigrants besides Mexico. There are also problems with illegal immigration from the middle-east. The 9/11 attacks were done by illegal immigrants as well. This caused or president at the time (George Bush) to make stricter policies on immigration(Meerepol). A hand full of suspected terrorists were detained and put into custody. As Meerepol points out in an interview with the detainees, " Like other 9/11 detainees, Farouk was beaten repeatedly, harassed by guards, and constantly moved from facilities..." Most people do not agree with the treatment of these suspects, but if the policies were set in place before the immigrants could come into the country and make the 9/11 attacks a reality. This is not saying the treatment of the detainees was not unjust and far more brutal than it should have been. Illegal immigrants from any nook of the world can bring customs to America that could create trouble or controversy. For the Mexican immigrants it is drugs and gang violence. As for the Middle-east it is the ideas and beliefs that put other people’s lives in jeopardy.
Illegal Immigration is a big problem for the United States and it will be for years to come if we continue to stand by and watch or country be over taken by these unwanted guests. The first step to fixing a problem is realizing you have a problem in the first place. All these tolls it is taking on America need to come to an end. From jobs being taking to innocents dying in places where they are meant to have a feeling of safety. America is the land of the free and built on the basis of immigrants from every corner of the world, but with the complexity of todays government there must come a point to draw the line on how people cross the boarder. Just remember, how would you handle it if one of you loved ones were to have their lives be taken by a person who shouldn’t even have been here in the first place?
