am not the picture of health, but I do stay in shape because I enjoy exercise. I never really thought about the reasons why I do though. The study we read regarding locus of control and health outcomes, mentions a strong indication of intelligence being a factor in our decision to stay healthy (Gale, 2008). I thought it made sense to relate the two, but it seemed a bit convenient to me since being more intelligent would also afford someone more resources to stay healthy, i.e. better food choices, gym membership, time away from work. Making better choices is of course going to factor in, but I think that even someone not as intelligent would make those choices if they had the freedom to do so.
In the last week, my stressors have been elevated causing excess stress. Having a major life change happen recently it has made me have to work more hours while still attending school full time, and taking care of my four children. I believe my outlook on life and my positive attitude play a major role in my stress and health. However, I always feel like I am on the go on a regular day without the added recent stress. I am trying to get back to my normal stressors without the added ones because I know because I have a type A personality I am at a higher risk of coronary heart disease (Matthew, 2013). In order to lessen the outcome of that I make sure to eat right and exercise daily.
