The first way to improve a company’s effectiveness would be to focus on its quality (its output). Most of all successful companies today put quality at the top of their priority list. A good way to produce good quality of a company’s product or services would be for the company to focus on the customers’ needs and requirements. Customers usually compare the actual performance of the product or the service being provided to their own set of expectations (quote). In their eyes it either passes or fails. For example, Chick-fil-la’ s main goal is to try and produce the best quality chicken around, even though you can get chicken from other places Chick-fil-a produces the best quality chicken to most people, it meets most customer needs and requirements for chicken compared to going to KFC and having the same chicken but it is too greasy and does not meet the needs and quality of the customer.

The next way to improve Effectiveness is Productivity. Productivity reflects the relationship of inputs and outputs in a company. Productivity could be measured in different ways it could be based of profit, sales, clients helped it all depends on what service or industry is being discussed. Where if a company’s Productivity level is low it is most likely not to do well because nothing is getting done. Most enterprises that focus productivity has usually employees that are both healthy and happy, which also makes them a successful business.

Next, we have efficiency which Is defined as the ratio of outputs to inputs. If a company have high efficiency levels then an organization will be able run smoothly, it is essential for managers to make sure that employees are getting tasks accomplished and done correctly in a timely manner. If not the company is wasting time and money. Managers or supervisors need to focus on Clearly defined roles and responsibilities, offering Effective communication, create fair Rules and regulations and Flexible policies, but most importantly Offer a Healthy work culture(Quote).

In order for a company to improve the effectiveness levels they should make sure they have high employee satisfaction levels. Employees need a pleasant work environment as they spend most of their day at workplace. Managers should give some freedom to make some decisions on their own. Superiors should never over use their power to disrespect or make other employees feel like they have no purpose. They would hate coming to work. Ways measure employee satisfaction include employee attitudes, turnover, absenteeism, tardiness and grievances. To ensure high satisfaction levels employees need to feel happy and confident at the workplace.

Last thing companies should focus on is Development to improve its effectiveness. Usually most company don’t focus on just the present they plan for the future to increase the company chance of staying open. For example, my company is always planning for our success for the future, we have a goal to increase our client intel by 100% by offering different and new services. Most companies do this by creating a 3 year businesses plan. Also, Companies are using developmental strategies by increasing spending on different training areas like Customer service training, Executive development and more different types of training so they can be better prepared for the future.

If all six of these criteria of effectiveness are implemented their no reason a company shouldn’t be successful in the workforce today. Companies need to make sure every part is done correctly to ensure success.

INFLUENCING CULTURE CHANGE – How do you create a great culture?

When it comes to culture we can find it all over the place all over the place, especially in the workplace. Organizational culture is a system of shared assumptions, values, and beliefs, which governs how people behave in organizations. Just like our personalities, cultures are all different, especially in different organization for example the last job I had our company culture was really laid back with casual dress codes, flexible hours to work and not so strict managers compared to my new job which the culture is very old school, suit and tie everyday type dress-code with not many flexible hours. Organizational culture in workplace is becoming understood as an important factor into running a successful and efficient company. A company can recreate or create a new culture for that organization at any time, but must choice the one that is most efficient for their employees. Here are a few examples of Specific types of cultures a company could use Customer-Service Culture, ethical Culture and diversity culture.

First is the Customer service culture which was created by John W. Nordstrom. It focuses on the principle that the customer should be offered the best possible service, selection, quality and value while using his service. Customer service is a key factor in a company’s success, if an organization can’t provide great service to its customer their chances of them using or coming back very is slim. For example, Chick-fil-a is a customer service culture business I know that I get the best service every time I stop their every morning for breakfast.

Next is the Ethical culture where a lot of companies put this first in their company mission statement. “In this culture are companies establishing a credos or mission based on values and ethical principles that serve to project to others what they believe and to guide behaviors.” (invanach 41). A good example is chick-fil-a, they provide an Christian base culture within their company, they do not open on Sunday because they believed and bible state that Sunday is the day of rest. Could they open on Sunday to make more money, yes, but it shows a lot about their company on how they implement the ethical culture in the workplace.

The last culture is the diversity culture. This type of culture should be found in every company. There are so many positive upsides to having a diverse company. When a company have people with different backgrounds and cultures work together, they are introduced new viewpoints and ideas. This helps employees become accustomed to hearing and sharing their different perspectives and presenting their ideas. With more ideas to choose from, the chances of finding the best possible final solution is improved. It also helps employees in feeling valued, which improves the morale of each worker and promotes positivity in the workplace. With more ideas on the table to choose from, the chances of finding the best possible final solution is improved. If a company want to aim for the long-term success a diverse culture of talent can bring different ideas, perspectives and views and a corporate mindset to the table. It’s also
