In conclusion, "Regarding the Pain of Others," states, "poster-ready photographs—the mushroom cloud of an A-bomb, Martin Luther King, Jr. speaking at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., the astronaut on the moon—are the visual equivalent of sound bites" (Sontag 652). Each image contains a message that help an individual visualize and image and breaks it down in parts to know the message behind it. The image of Anne Frank tells the story of a young teenage girl trying to live out her dream of becoming a journalist while living during a terrifying time in which is the Holocaust. The image of Anne Frank sitting in a desk with her journal open and a pencil or pen in her hand and her smiling shows the viewer that even in hard times like the Holocaust one can smile and not let the bad things overcome everything. Susan helps the viewer see that an image is more than just an image it is a story hidden within which in this case Anne Frank’s image has a hidden message or story within just like the other images that Susan states in her story. This image is a historic photograph that will remain historic for many years even after we all perish and every individual will be able to find out the story behind Anne Frank during the horrific Holocaust including all the images of the concentration camps and deceased bodies of the Jewish people that died during the Holocaust. Even if some images are challenging to know that the exact story behind it is or even if it has a message or not one can see that if a photo/image exist it has to be for a reason and that reason is for us to find out, because everything is made for a purpose and since something is made for a purpose the story should exist and once we find out what it is we will know why they were taken. Do not give up in finding the story behind and image even if it is difficult keep persevering and give the viewer a story just as Anne Frank gave us one.
