Lastly, if they established settlements at the Americas they would be able to regain military strength. As we know the English Dutch and French were all in dark time and in this they were all turning on each other so with settlements there at the Americas it would allow them to have some type of military power at that side. So if an English colony tried to attack a French company the French would have settlements with small military camps that would be able to defend the company and keep any type of piracy from happening. As Thomas Benjamin also mentioned that at that time there was a lot of piracy happening. There were many countries stealing from each other instead of helping each other. So if someone was to establish a business at the Americas so that they can make money they would need protection. Thus settlements were made in order to establish Military strength.
In conclusion, the English Dutch and French all had very similar interests as to why they established settlements at the Americas. With these things it allowed them to become what they are today. If it weren’t for them establishing settlements and making history who knows where they would be today or how they would be. So to them wealth, power and Military strengths were their main interests as to why settlements were established in the Americas.
