Many of the prisoners convicted tend to be poor and may not have the economic power to pay even their own rents. Poor defendants across the country languish in pretrial detention because they are too poor to post the bail. Extremely high court fees and surcharges are also increasingly common, as cash-strapped counties and municipalities often expect their courts to pay for themselves or even tap them as sources of public revenue. The impact on poor defendants is particularly harsh. Despite of these hard economic environments, it is increasingly common to see economics punishments despite these hardships of the convicted.

The rights of noncitizens are always one of the top concerns and big problem in the United States. There are almost 25 million noncitizens in the US border and about 12 million of them do not have proper authorization to stay in the country. Detention centers are set up around the country, which holds about 400,000 noncitizens each year. The criminal prosecution of immigration offenses, which historically had been largely dealt with through deportation and other non-criminal sanctions, continues to increase. In 2012, immigration cases constituted 41 percent of all federal criminal cases; illegal reentry is now the most prosecuted federal crime. Many of those prosecuted have minor or no criminal history and have substantial ties to the US such as US citizen family members they were seeking to rejoin when arrested. “Secure Communities” and other federal programs involving local law enforcement agencies continued to play an important role in deportations. The federal government has portrayed these programs as focused on dangerous criminals, but most immigrants deported through Secure Communities are non-criminal or lower level offenders. These programs also exacerbate distrust of police in immigrant communities. Not only that the noncitizens are not receiving their proper rights and judgments, they also on many levels face discrimination by society in many places around the country.

To sum it up, beside the mentioned acts of unrighteousness among the people from or not form the United States, basic racial and sex discrimination violates human rights all over the country. Some of the most recent events are police incorrect use of their power to “convict” African Americans in certain states. The judicial system did enforce reforms to the system and condemned the police officers involved but there are no guarantees that events like this would never happen again. It takes a strong and upright screened law enforcement along with a unbiased and fair judicial system to allow criminals to take responsibility for their crime but also repay in the correct level. Technically, the US has much better human rights conditions than other countries such as North Korea or maybe China, where many freedoms are not yet to be allowed among the people.
