The Different Types of First Dates

Sightseeing dates are another form of first dates. These dates include going out to museums, aquariums, zoos, or other exhibits around town. Most people prefer to take this route to see the preferences the other might have and what they enjoy doing on their spare time. This get-together is filled with curiosity and is usually used to compare likes and dislikes as well as testing the person more intellectually. You should wear a “day out in the streets” (Keldgord) look considering that is exactly what you are doing. This outfit usually looks like you tried and is a head turner when you are roaming the streets. With sightseeing, you should expect to have more discussions based on what you are observing, and have some lovely memories afterward.

Standing in line getting some popcorn, you chat with your date who is rambling about the movie you are about to see, but you understand the rush of trying to get as much conversation possible because once the movie starts, getting a word in will be very hard. We’ve all been through this at one point, the movie date. We all should know what this means, a night out to watch the latest movie with your partner. It’s simple, cheap, and demonstrates your personality more since you can tell the type of person someone is by watching where they laugh, where they shift, and where they turn away. Since conversation is lost, these physical queues represent you and are closely monitored. This means wardrobe plays an important role, you should dress preppy meaning you dress more college like, geeky, and luxurious all at once. A movie, unlike sightseeing, does not help determine someone’s intellect, but a magazine article called the Philippines Daily inquisitor suggests a different route that combines the physical queues of a movie, but the intellectual stimulation that can provide you a more accurate representation of your date. Instead of watching that cliché movie Daily Inquisitor, Irene Perez, suggests that you watch a play instead, since you are experiencing literature at its finest, and discussing the originality of the play causing intellectual stimuli, whereas a movie discussion is very bland and can burn out very quick.

“ Mirror, Mirror on the wall, which date is the most informal of them all?”, the bar date. This date is also known as “ going out for a few drinks” but by the end of the night it has been more than a couple, and things begin to get out of hand. These types of dates usually suggest that the person is looking for a short term relationship since the conversations are straightforward, the surrounding is loud, and the drinks are never ending. This night usually ends with both of you very sick, or in an awkward position trying to define it, there will be a second time or if that was it. During this date one should dress tomboyish, a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and maybe some flats nothing too fancy since most people there will be dressed very relaxed.

As you continue browsing through Tinder trying to find the “perfect date” you realize you’ve been sitting at the coffee shop for more than an hour. Though the free Wi-Fi access and the reminder of your previous date in your mind you continue to sit there looking for the right person. Though to be nice you decide to buy a muffin to go with your cold coffee, since sitting there scrolling until your job starts makes you seem like your taking advantage of the shop’s free Wi-Fi. As you make your way to the register you ram into someone making them drop their own cup in surprise. You apologize immediately and offer to buy a new one, they assure you it is okay and proceed to follow you to the line to replace the drink they just dropped. There you order your muffin, and overhear them order their coffee. As you walk back to your table where the endless search will resume, you realize that the person in following you there. As you take a seat they sit across from you, halting your expedition. As you ask “ How can I help you?’ they said they couldn’t help notice you on Tinder and would like to help you come to a decision faster them, you owe them that much. Reluctantly you agree since what is the harm? You are meeting strangers on Tinder as well. As they get up to leave they give you the local pub’s name and ask to meet up later for “ a couple of drinks”, you don’t mind though since you now know both of you are not particularly looking for that long relationship.
