Eye contact is also included in the non-verbal communication. Hansen (2010) mentions that “whether eyes are the windows to the soul is debatable, but experts agree that people use their eyes as the primary medium for nonverbal communication” (p.37). For instance, if a person is lying, that person will try to avoid staring directly into someone else, at the same time the person’s pupil will shrink and the person will blink his eyes frequently (Hargrave, 2008, p.22). When some people see this information, they may not believe the man. Some deaf people they are living in a voiceless world. When they communicate with others, they sometimes use their eye contact and hand gestures. Hansen (2010) also refers that eye contact can help people build social relation. People think that the person who often uses eye contact to communicate with others is friendly, outgoing, conversable and trustworthy (p.37). Eye contact is a kind of nonverbal communication. Obviously, through the eye contact you can tell others your inner words rather than use the verbal to expression. Furthermore, Eye contact also can tell others your true feeling so that it is hard for you to lie to others.
