A Writer’s Point of View

Each time that you read any kind of writing work in reality, you are analyzing the author’s point of view and this point of view is influenced by several factors in the author’s life. In every written, the writer plasma his o her beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and opinions which means that a writer’s style depends on his or her personal life. In the essay “An overview of ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find’” by Elisabeth Piedmont-Marton, she writes about how the religion and the origin of the author influenced the story.

The first point of the essay is the origin of the author of the story “A Good Man is Hard to Find”. Elisabeth says that to understand this story is necessary to remember “she (Flannery O'Connor) always identified herself as a Southern writer” her origin affected the way of developing the story and this can be seen in how hard are the characters and the story itself; I am personally agree with this point because the United States South’s history is strong and people who lived in the most difficult times for this part of the country, like the civil war, they lives were marked for ever and I think, O’Connor showed these hard times in the significance of her written so, her origin was a strong characteristic that influenced her write style.

The second point of the essay is the religion of the author. Elisabeth writes in the essay that O’Connor was a religion writer and her stories were informed by the particulars of her Catholic faith therefore, it helps to understand the O’Connor’s story to know about Catholic religion and cite “Readers need not share her faith in order to appreciate her fiction, but it helps to be aware of the basic tenets of Catholicism that appear in “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” and her other stories” With this point I am agree because in this story the religion is an important theme that controls how the story developed and ended. The religious meaning is clearly evidenced when the whole story is based in the belief of the existence of God or not and this view plays a crucial role between the Grandmother and the Misfit. In this manner, I strongly believe that a personal belief like religion can evidently influenced the point of view of a writer even if his or her story are fiction, at the final reality intersects with fiction.

In conclusion, any kind of written contains the author’s personal beliefs or thoughts and, and these characteristics influence, indirectly or directly, how his o her stories develop and the real meaning that the author wants to show.
