Customer service is extremely important to a business because it is the only contact between the company and the customers. If a customer calls Haier’s customer service, it will mostly be about a problem that occurred with a product; and they will be expecting the department to resolve their issues. Therefore, customer service and product quality should be improved to avoid these problems.

We live in an age of competition and a world of competitive positioning. Competition increases every day and competitors such as Whirlpool Corporation; AB Electrolux and LG electronics will not hesitate to be #1. Consumers are looking for the best product: good price & good quality. I believe Haier needs to continuously invest on innovations to strengthen its leading position and also invest in innovative technologies. Simple and affordable products should match people who need and want them. Haier will have to maintain the four P’s. This will eventually lead to an increase in marketing strategies.

Going green would be a good idea. It is not a “trend” and not only can it benefit the environment but the company itself. We are facing a world of competition (as I mentioned), and also a world striving for sustainability. I believe going green is an advantage and it would mean staying competitive. Moreover, it will strengthen Haier’s image in the eyes of the consumers while being environmentally friendly.

Conclusion

The Haier Group case study is an example for many companies and a lesson for business students. It demonstrates how a company transformed itself from unsuccessful to one of the world’s most innovative companies. Zhang Ruimin focused on consumers’ needs and on empowering his employees, while constantly developing its business strategies.
