Teaching and Learning Activities (TLAs):

CILOs 1-3

Lectures and in-class discussion:

Students will

- review the basic legal institutions;

- analyze the doctrine and methodology of the law;

- evaluate the principles of contract law and tort law; and

- participate in class discussion on legal issues.

Class exercises:

Students will

- analyze the current legal news and journals;

- evaluate the cases given belong to which categories; and

- apply the relevant provisions in the Law of Contract and Law of Tort to practical situation.

Visit Court

Students will

- visit courts, analyze legal cases and report the findings.

Assignment and case studies

Students will

- review the standard contracts from practical business assignment;

- identify whether all elements are included in the contracts; and

- analyze different types of negotiable documents used in practical business environment.

Individual assignments will be required. Essays and simulated cases will be required to assist students in applying the principles learned to the practical business environment. Court visit and submission of report are required.

The examination will test students on whether they are able to apply concepts and knowledge to simulated business situations.
