Reliability and validity
Reliability and validity is used in human resource management to ensure that adverse impact doesn’t occur when collecting valid evidence that is related to the test to a job. There are three approaches for conducting validation studies. “Criterion-related validation demonstrates the relationship among test effectiveness and job effectiveness. Strictly speaking, employees who score above average on the test have a habit of to perform more suitable on the job from those who score at a low level on the test. Content-related validation depends upon a demonstration that the content of the test epitomizes important job-related behavior. Content-related measures important requirements for the job. Construct-related validation depends upon a demonstration that he that measures the construct or characteristic it claims to measure and that this characteristic is important to successful performance on the job” (Understanding Test-Quality- Concepts of Reliability and Validity, 2015). Reliability in human resource research signifies that the selection methods, tests and ensuring results are unchanging and do not change with time, place, or different subjects. That signifies that two interviews at a contrasting time and place, with contrasting interviewers will bring the same results. For example, if a job candidate has a high score on an assessment test the first time, they will score high on the second assessment test.
Conclusion
The human resources department plays an essential role to the success of an organization. Primary and secondary research is used in human resources to answer questions that are relevant and can be used when collecting information such as background checks and checking references. To conclude, reliability and validity are used in human resource research to ensure that adverse impact doesn’t occur.
