It’s no secret that the healthcare system has been changing over the last hundred years, however we had seen some of the most dramatic changes over the last ten years, first able because of the great development in technology and the digitization of the patient experience which have brought an amazing improvement into the healthcare system. However some of the ways in which the system has changed the most while looking at the industry are technology, Anesthesia, medical research, also an important role of financial in the health care system are the funds provided by authorities and government which also influences change and last the Obama care, one of the biggest changes in the way the health care system has ever experience.

Technology

Technology has had a gigantic impact on how healthcare has changed over the last one hundred years. Comparing medical care of today to that one of a hundred years ago, one can see how much technology has changed. But one doesn’t have to go that far if we just compare the year 2000 to now, one can still see a dramatically difference. The reality is that technology advances so fast that there are many new things being created or discovered which have brought and continue to bring great benefit, change and improvement to the health industry. Currently there is technology in hospitals that was unheard of many years ago, Just to mention some of the equipment being used on a daily basis There are huge CT scan machines that take x-rays of the body from multiple angles and it’s such an important piece of technology today, without it, it would harder to diagnose things or take longer to do so.

There are the X-ray machines which are less harmful and the results can be obtain instantly. How about surgical technology that is helping to save people’s lives, breathing devices or technology that administers drugs. Communication in the health industry is another area that has improved due to technology, hospitals are able to communicate with one another more effectively and share medical records and information. Also, Wireless communication has made a huge difference in hospital infrastructure, including the monitoring of patients as they’re moved from one place to another. Wireless communications allows hospitals to function more effectively, providing better all-around patient care. Hospital booking systems have changed thanks to technology as well. It helps staff to be more organized and cope with the workload therefore there is less chance of information being lost because everything is digital

But more importantly the big change of electronic medical records has made it easy for doctors to send patient information to one another and reduce the number of lost records. Instead of individual doctors and specialists holding one piece of a larger puzzle, they may now share information easily, leading to better patient care. These are just some of the changes that technology has brought into the health care system but there are many more.

Anesthesia

Can someone imaging that a great moments in the history of medicine occurred on an anxious morning of fall in the surgical amphitheater of Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital in 1846. It was there that dentist William T. G. Morton and surgeon Glenn Abbott injected an effective anesthetic to a surgical patient which became one of the most significant scientific revolution concerning anesthesia by using simply sulfuric ether. Regardless of composition, this inspired many enterprising surgeons to devise and execute an armamentarium of lifesaving, invasive procedures that continue to benefit humankind to this very day.

During certain medical procedures, patients are given an anesthetic to numb the pain. Sometimes, it can be local, meaning only the operating area is numbed. For example, doctors and dentists use injections to numb an area, but the patient will be able to feel other parts of their body. This is different compare years ago because they didn’t have the ability to do this. Instead, you either had no anesthesia or had to be completely put under. Obviously, having no anesthesia means you have the risk of being in great deals of pain.

Thankfully, we can now have local anesthetics for simple procedures that might cause pain. As a result of this, people are more comfortable having things done because they know they won’t feel the pain. Moving forward in history, as it is known, Anesthesia allows dentists, doctors and surgeons to perform medical procedures without pain, procedures that would cause severe or intolerable pain to a patient without it.
