Proper high school preparation courses include those in English, foreign language, and computers. Directions include spending a prolonged time in a foreign country or having some form of regular contact with another culture. One should also spend considerable time reading and learning about other cultures and languages, including English. Translators and interpreters may major in a foreign language although this is not required. Jobs require training in how to do the specialized translating or interpreting work. Spanish and English fluency id the most important requirement for a Spanish translating career. Needed acquired translating skills, which can be learned in multiple ways, such as through courses, seminars or post-secondary training. Qualities for translators include writing and listening skills, business expertise and sensitivity to cultural differences. Though not required for employment, becoming certified helps qualify for certain positions. In addition to technical skills, or personal characteristics, to succeed in this occupation. Active listening, verbal communication, reading comprehension, writing, and cultural sensitivity.

Masters degree programs are available for those with desire to work in technical fields such as engineering, finance, or localization interpreting. Bachelor’s degrees are often required by employers, but having the option for what majored in. a few schools offer translation majors where translation techniques, culture and translation specialties are learned. Employers in specialty areas like law or healthcare may look for translators with experience in certain areas. A bachelor’s degree isn’t a strict requirement but most employers prefer job candidates who have one. Majoring in another field of study may, in fact, prove to be valuable as it will give an area of expertise other do not have.

As a result of the growing industry, employment for translators and interpreters is expected to increase at rates faster than the overall occupational average through 2012. The larger metropolitan areas, but this is likely to change as more people move into rural or smaller communities. Interpreters and translators make intercultural communication possible through language, idea, and concept translation. This job is available in many different careers, and many businesses. A translator and interpreter are one of the most paid jobs because they will always be needed. They are incorporated in mostly any other career.
