The fourth source is a doctor who published an article of obesity in a website called clinical.diabetesjournals.org, from the American Diabetes Association, Jennifer B. Marks reveals that obesity in the United States is a big problem. Dr. Marks explained, if a person is obese many factors need to be considered on the cause, such as inheritance, personal history, lifestyles and the elements that have to do with the socio-cultural and demographic background of the individual. Dr. Marks thinks that many of the problems of obesity come from exogenous or cultural causes. She describes that obesity is really a problem, and at the end of her article she provides some good strategies to prevent it, and these strategies will be described within my next source that offers similar solutions. Although many people can publish articles on this site, Dr. Marks mentions many academic references. Therefore, I think there is a lot of credibility in her article. Her writing style is more or less formal. She uses an easy way for people to understand the vocabulary. I’ll use this source for my upcoming research, due to its simplicity of explanations of the causes, and ways to prevent it.

Finally, moving on to the fifth source “How to Avoid the Obesity Epidemic”, which is about the alternatives to end or prevent this disease, it will kick the curiosity out of my mind. According to the author Lynn Yoffee, “Here's how to escape the epidemic”. She suggests aiming to change eating habits emphasizing healthier meals. These dietary changes must be accompanied by increased physical activity. To carry out these measures, the U.S government and its citizens should implement social awareness campaigns necessary for obese Americans to have a guide to follow. In addition, the government should make a considerable investment in nutritional education for people to learn to cook by following the basics of healthy eating. Moreover, food companies should carry out a significant investment to preserve quality at the expense of the sell of products. Lynn also proposed, preventing obesity in early ages by recommending all parents to play an important role in increasing the self-esteem of their children, by focusing on their strengths and encouraging, rather than attacking their obesity problem in an aggressive manner. This source is key to my research, because it gives useful advices to put a stop on this issue. Although I may look for more sources to understand the different perspectives on the solution, this source presented 100% of good insights to my purpose.

In all my sources, I searched a lot of information about my topic. I think they will be useful for my research on obesity in the United States, for insights on three aspects, roots that causes obesity, the consequences, and strategies used to fight it. So I want to use all sources in my following tests to support my argument on obesity in the United States, whether is a problem or not, and what to do about it.
