and ribs. The internal bleeding couldn’t clot properly and resulted in Kai fainting and luckily found by the cleaner when he came to clean the changerooms. This led to Kai being hospitalised for more than a week before he returned to his country.
Sadly, this has happened to one of our peers. This kind of situation shouldn’t be occurring in our school, our school values kindness and equal treatment to all students, we should represent these values, also the values of the Australian society, acceptance and a fair go.
To those who chose to perform such atrocious acts, please stop and consider the feeling of the victim, would you like to be treated the way you treat them? Would you like to suffer the mental trauma they suffer from? Would you want to feel inferior like how they feel?
I encourage those who’ve been victim to racial discrimination to stand up for yourselves. Be brave and tell the teacher or your peers the discrimination you experience. You deserve just as much respect as everyone else and you don’t deserve to be the victim of racism. And to those who witness the racial discrimination, tell the bully to stop, or inform the teachers of what is happening. Our school needs people like you to help stand up for those who are vulnerable, for those who are the subject of unfair treatment, for those who are silenced.
Discrimination shouldn’t be tolerated in our school or in our society at all. Our Australian and Christian values are strongly of mateship, multiculturalism and a fair go. This is why I request that you to accept these individuals who are different to you and take time to understand their background, their context before you point fingers or make hurtful jokes at them. Because I know that our school is capable of making such a change, to improve the environment for those who have experienced this unfairness.
