- Conducting the Experiment:
- The components were set up as shown in Fig. 2.
- The voltage PS4 and PS1 were set to 0V.
- The power supply was switched on and PS1 was adjusted to 380V.
- The excitation current was increased from 0% to 100% in steps of 10%.
- At each step, the values of voltage and excitation current was tabulated.
- The steps above was repeated while decreasing the excitation current from 100% to 10%.
- The values obtained was used to plot the ascending and descending.

- Conducting the Experiment:
- The components were set up as shown in Fig. 3.
- The voltage PS4 and PS3 was set to 0V.
- The power supply was switched on and PS4 was set to 220V. PS3 was increased gradually until the speed reached 300 rpm.
- The current and the voltage was measured and tabulated.
- PS3 was decreased with -10V
- PS4 was decreased and the speed was checked to be at 3000 rpm.
- The experiment was completed when the armature voltage is so low that the motor begins to slow down.
- PS4 and PS3 was adjusted to 0V to stop the machine.
- The values obtained was used to plot the graph.
