Responsibilities of human service managers
Management of Humans Services has the responsibility to enforce regulations and laws against discrimination. They are responsible for training all employees to beware cultural differences and to treat everyone with respect equally.
Within my dream organization, Children of the World, we will not discriminate against race, culture, sex. We encourage exploration of different cultures and their values and beliefs. That is why we have a diverse group of staff who provide support to children and families that come from different cultures and backgrounds.
Risk Management Strategies
In the workplace risk management strategies support equity involves management being able to identify the source that bring harm to employees wellbeing as well as their health, assessing risk staff may have, develop and implement actions that address the work environment to help prevent psychological injures as well as keep stress at a minimal by management support and promote employees health and wellbeing.
Issues of diversity
Diversity in the workplace are paramount for human service workers and for management of human service organizations since it’s not uncommon for human service agencies to hire employees of different ethnic groups and nationalities; issues because of differences in wages or differences in treatment of employees because of cultural differences could be perceived as discrimination. By bringing about awareness of and/or promoting awareness to cultural issues, employers reflect on how they recognize and contribute the value of all workers. Cultural diversity in the workplace has been around for a long time and often goes unnoticed.
Experience or Observation
Experience and observation will influence issues of diversity within my dream agency since not experiencing it gives me a change to look for individuals that are impacted from this terrible way that people live. Being able to experience diversity is key to understanding how it feel; however since we are an agency that assistance more than just one population of race we have to make sure all are treated fairly. Treating everyone fairly will allow us to better serve the community that needs help
Development and management of human resources
Diversity and discrimination greatly affect management and development of human resources. When developing a agency their needs to be a diverse set of staff engaged. Management should know all the laws and regulations regarding to discrimination. Diversity brings more clients into agencies because clients feel more comfortable when there are other individuals who can speak their language and understand their culture. Even when they are working with the person who aims to serve them it is just as important for them to understand so that they are open to tell them the help or services they feel they will need. I think having someone who understand how and why can help is key. There are also more services available to diverse groups.
