do occur. So far there have been three major reactor accidents in the history of civil nuclear power - Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima. One was contained without harm to anyone, the next involved an intense fire without provision for containment, and the third severely tested the containment, allowing some release of radioactivity. Chernobyl itself though was a mistake of gross negligence and entirely the fault of the soviets. These are the only major accidents to have occurred in over 15,000 cumulative reactor-years of commercial nuclear power operation in 33 countries. The evidence show that in over six decades that nuclear power is a safe means of generating electricity. The risk of accidents in nuclear power plants is low and declining. The consequences of an accident or terrorist attack are minimal compared with other commonly accepted risks. Radiological effects on people of any radioactive releases can be avoided.

Nuclear energy is an efficient way to reduce the amount of CO2 in the environment some may think that uranium mines pollute the environment. All western countries highly regulate uranium mining, and standards in the mines make almost certain that the miners digging up the uranium ore do not have any adverse health effects. Any water that is released in the mines is contained due to regulations of various government agencies. Scientists are finding new ways to recycle used fuel like the plutonium gained from reprocessing is a valuable fuel which can be used with depleted uranium essentially creating a re-usable renewable energy resource if that’s not good for the environment then nothing is. Emissions by the process of actually creating the energy through uranium is only present by steam carbon is used only to start and power the initial reactor But this is nothing in comparison to how we use fossil fuels now. Many world governments have classified nuclear power as a low carbon emission power source

In conclusion nuclear power Is the best resource we have available to us that Is sure to last us a long time, or at least long enough to improve or discover new ways of renewable energy such as fusion . But for the mean while not only is fission safe and reliable it is also a good way to revitalize any economy by putting a large scale workforce together. Making nuclear fusion the best out of all possible currently available possibility’s
