At this point, the experiment again collected and recorded the data. In order to remain the pressure consistent throughout the experimental procedure, Valve 8 was closed using F2. Here, another mole fraction 0.1 was added and now it became 0.2. Data was collected and recorded again here. The same procedure was repeated until it reached 0.9.

By opening the valves 1, 4, and 11, a link was created between the charge vessel (having CO2) and the cells. The amount of mercury had to be removed and then reinstalled to make mole fraction 0.1. Therefore, valves 1, 4 and 11 were shut down using F2.

And the only procedure remaining was to calculate the pressure that was conducted by opening valve 8. Noteworthy here is that removing molecules resulted in the creation of surplus gas bubbles in the system. The function key F6 was handy in that it removed all surplus bubbles until it reached 0.001 cc Gas. After constant attempts to withdraw mercury from the cell, the bubble point reached at 0.001 cc Gas. And, finally, F10 key was used to collect the mole fractions of liquid and vapor I.

Results and Calculations

The volume of CO2 was calculated from the results obtained by group 4. The reason for using these results was just because of the calculation that assumed CO2 was at constant 900F.
