The problem is that one may suffer even more severe cultural shock upon returning home as one has already adjusted to the new way of living.

So, moving to a new country can be quite overwhelming at times and sometimes you will wonder why you ever left your own place but without a doubt, living abroad will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.

Goal setting

Goal setting is a significant part of studies as there are many goals which should be reached and reached successfully. The S.M.A.R.T. goals technique is the most popular method used for goal setting.

S. = Specific

M. = Measurable

A. = Attainable

R. = Realistic

T. = Time Based

When creating a goal it is important to ensure that the sentence you have written summarising your goal meets all of the above five criteria.

From my point of view, the most important part of the process is to define your measures. It means how you will recognise that your goal has been achieved. And if your goal involves other people, then they will need to know this too.

Using this system you will significantly improve the quality of your goal setting and increase the likelihood of your success, before you take a single step.

Managing Team Work

Being part of a team is a superb experience because a person is able to work with others and learn how to handle diverse situations. In a team a person learns how to cooperate, think critically, and become a good listener. Everyone in the group has an assigned task, which makes the work get done more efficiently and accurately. For example, I am responsible to make sure that work gets completed and that we all come to some type of reasonable agreement when working on assignments. Although tasks are assigned everyone helps each other and gives their opinion in the group liberally.

However, some obsticals can occur while carrying out a project: conflicts; poor time management; weak communication between team members; poor productivity of a part of team members and so on. That is why all the members must be able to come to the agreement and solve the problems as fast as possible to finish their work successfully.

I am grateful that I have learned how to work in a team and how to be useful for other members of the group. In the future , I hope we will have more team projects as they help us to improve ourselves and develop as personalities.

Study Tips and Techniques

When it comes to studying or learning, every student prefers his/her distinct pattern that suits his speed, grasping capacity and other academic abilities. However there are certain studying techniques that can lead the learning process to a great extent.

Attending Classes. The amount of knowledge that one can grasp in a classroom is extremely valuable for students. Make it a point to attend the classes regularly so that you don’t miss out on the important points and topics mentioned in the class.

Maintaining Organized and Comprehensive Notes. One simple process to have comprehensive notes is to include the following steps: Take Notes in the Class While reviewing the notes during self-study, make your own additions to sum up your understanding of the topic Research further to include additional data to your notes.

Self-Study and Research. You should start preparing for the class in advance reviewing the notes that you have taken during the class as well as try and read more about the subject on your own.

Regular Planning. It is a known fact that having a clear and detailed plan makes it easier for a person to reach the goal. According to your convenience, make a daily/weekly/monthly planner for your studies.

Build the Right Attitude. Normally students get too caught up with the grades, the percentage and the entire marking system. One must remember that if you study with the aim of acquiring knowledge, the grades will be brighter by default. Knowledge is way beyond the grades and percentages.

Motivation and Study Skills

Motivation is important for good studying. When you are motivated, you will find it easy to stay focused over a period of time. I think every person has his/her own motivation system.

As for me, I always try to reward myself for studying. For example, after a successful study session, I go to the cinema with friends or to a cafe. It is also important to develop interest in what you have to study. This will make studying enjoyable and rather easy. Establishing a comfortamble environment is of significance because when you feel comfortable you can reach the set goals within less time and effort.

Another thing that I am using, while working on a big project or task, is a motivational poster. The poster includes stages of the project which you can cross out after completing.

To summ up, I think it is great when you have a moto like "Just do it" or "Nothing is Impossible" during studies because once you do, you will feel a lot better than if you are worried about getting it done.
