We as managers have all experienced that happy employees are productive employees. Just taking a few simple measures to boost employee morale and set the framework for continued professional and emotional growth increases employee motivation. Taking these motivational steps are not only cost effective to our organization, but a great strategy to use in setting the standard of practice for Wal-Mart associates (Bonusly, 2017).

EI Building Blocks

Human skills must possess a strong platform of emotional intelligence. We will build our training methods on the core building blocks of emotional intelligence which are:

- An individual’s ability to get along with others through building good social skills

- One’s ability to relate to the feelings of others through empathy

- The ability for our employees to be motivated to work to their fullest potential

- Being able to have self-regulation and think before reacting in order to come to the best positive outcome

- One’s ability to understand their own emotions through self-awareness

In order for our organization to be successful in training and developing our employees effectively, or managers must incorporate these building blocks of emotional intelligence (Organizational Behavior, 13th Ed).

Manager Program Initiative

We will have various workshops where our organizational managers will be required to attend on a scheduled monthly basis. Managers will be evaluated on their ability to interact well with employees and associates in making sure that they implement our EI strategies. They will experience experiential learning in course related activities to include Initial Experience, Experimentation, Theory Building, and Reflection. (Organizational Behavior, 13th Ed).

Conclusion

Managers must set the stage for the organization. In order for managers to manage effectively, they must be able to communicate on all levels with their employees. Emotional Intelligence (IE) plays a very vital role within an organization. This could determine what kind of employees are hired, and what strategies are used within the organization to retain employees as well as customers. Wal-Mart has been experiencing a decline in sales due to their poor customer service and their inability to be constant in providing the customers with their products. Employees need to feel valued and appreciated. Therefore, it is the responsibility of Wal-Mart to make sure that their managers are trained to understand and utilize their (EI) Emotional Intelligence in interacting with their employees. This will help the employees be successful in their everyday work practices and interaction with the customers. This will help in reconnecting with the customers and retaining customer loyalty.
