Social policies that affect older adults is to be assisted with their health, medical care, and living. With retirement plans, there are people that have medical premiums, but it doesn’t cover all medical expenses. Benefits will decreased with being retired, the income of retirement and any income after retirement. 99 percent of the time it all goes to bills, when people have worked all those years of saving, and some don’t receive full benefits. Jan 23, 2012 the National Council on Aging (NCOA) encourages older adults and their caregivers to advocate for key issues that could greatly affect their lives, and their livelihoods. A part of the Affordable Care Act, Congress passed a new voluntary, long-term care insure program called Community Living Assistance Service and Support Programs (CLASS). CLASS allow people to plan long-term services as they get older and remain at home rather than being forced to spend-down their life saving or enter a nursing home, (“PrNewswire”,2012).

All the change that come with adulthood, there should be another planning for retirement from people when they first start working. Like an extension in life plan. This should be when a person reach a certain age, this could be something that could be right out the individual check monthly to put away. That way the individual wouldn’t have to worry about sending the payment off. Plans like this could help late adulthood ease with stress in the aging process. This plan if there was one would include life insurance policy, and full medical benefits until expired. This would put less stress on family members or friends. Keeping a social life for late adulthood will help them not to stress so easily in the future and present. The future is up to an individuals to control their future and preparing the last stage in life, (Zastrow & Kirst-Ashman, 2010).
