were all high demand material during the war. The high demand for all of these materials meant that Canada was making a lot of money during that time. Women working in factories also helped with Canada’s economy both during and after the war due to the fact that they were now self employed which meant that they had their own money to spend and have been paying taxes on earning. During the time of war Canada was producing and exporting materials for other countries for war efforts, $10 billion worth equivalent to about $100 billion in today’s money. Even though it was a challenge for the Canadians to produce weapons and war materials for the war effort, our industry and workforce stepped up and it was an incredible accomplishment. Canada has benefitted economically from World War Two in many ways which eventually made it a stronger country in the end meaning that people in the country could work wherever they wanted to and the country was very wealthy.

Lastly, World War Two benefitted Canada by helping it establish as a strong independent nation in many ways. What made Canada a fully independent country was the statue of West Minster in 1931, at this point on Canada was officially independent which meant that Canada had the right to its own foreign policy, Canada had virtual independence from Britain and that the British parliament could no longer make laws for Canada. One week after Britain declared war, the Prime Minister Mackenzie king declared war, pledging Canada’s voluntary support to Britain again showing how Canada has become stronger then ever. After the war ended Canada continued to show its independence in many ways such as joining the United Nations as an independent, free voting member, opening its first independent embassy in 1947 in Washington, dc, etc. World War two has not only made Canada much more independent than ever before but it has made the nation self-ruling, self-determining and free as a whole

In conclusion, it is very easy to think of all the negative things that happened in Canada during World War Two such as mistreating the Japanese Canadians and many of our Canadian soldiers dying but society must never forget all of the benefits that came with the second war. These things include recognizing women as an important role in society, having a high demand for materials from Canada therefor boosting the economy and making Canada a stronger and more independent country.
