Just recently a case has been brought to the attention of the courts concerning five civilians that are part of the Building and Development Party. These five civilians were given a one year prison sentence by military forces. The Anti-Coup reached out and voiced its opinion of a strong condemning towards this charge and sentence. According to Cousin (2014),
“The alliance referred to the case as the “continuation of the militarisation of the state.. and human rights violations” in Egypt. It condemned “in the strongest words” the continuation of military trials for civilians and considers their verdicts “illegal and unconstitutional”.
With everything wrong the military has done concerning the Anti-Coup Alliance and how their wrong doings have been hidden from the world does bring into play that the military should not have says like this. The military does seem to be a big portion of the Anti-Coup Alliance’s problem and is now deciding to use its power elsewhere.
Due to the articles presented in this paper about the protests at the universities in Egypt, I am now intrigued with the Anti-Coup Alliance protests and how it is being handled and hidden by the Egyptian forces. This paper only contains the newly found information from recent articles, but it does go back to over a year ago. The abusing of power, the voice of the people diminished, and the over use of jail and physical assault should be something that is worldwide known but sadly, it takes a person to get onto the internet and research deep into the Egyptian News to try and recover any newfound news. Also, sadly after reading Mohamad Elmasry’s article that exposes so many media flaws, it will be hard to believe their news from now on that could possibly be corrupt.
