According to Hansen in the “A College Education Is a Necessity in Today's World” she states that college students have longer life spans, better access to health care, better dietary and health practices, greater economic stability and security, greater job satisfaction, less dependency on government assistance, and more self-confidence. With that being said students with a college degree end up living longer due to the fact that they live happier and heathier lives than those without a college degree. Lee states that not everyone needs a higher education (468). Which in some cases could be true but according to Hansen a college education is a legacy for your children. Research shows that children with college educated parents live healthier lives, have better academic success and are more likely to attend college themselves than those with parents that do not have a college education. Without a college you may be left out according to Alan Greenspan Federal Reserve Board Chairman. It is very hard to accomplish the American dream that everyone is after if you do not have the time and effort put into the profession that you are pursuing. That is why college is a necessity to reach the American dream without it the chances of you achieving this are miniscule. Hansen also mentions in her essay that for the people that end up going to college end up making more money which causes people with a degree to have a greater quality of life.

Furthermore, as mentioned by Lee in “Success Without College” she believes that you do not need to go to college to be successful. Lee gives some good points like going into the armed forces or going to roofing, or being a UPS delivery driver and still make good money (469). But Hansen also gives very good points like college graduates make around $21,000 more annually than someone without a college degree which is a noticeable amount. Hansen also goes on to talk about how going to college is also going to leave a legacy for your children who are going to be more successful than I child with parents that did not go to college. With a degree in your hand you are far more likely to have a better life and be more happy than someone who does not have one. With more and more jobs requiring some sort of college degree I believe it would be stupid not to attend college. If you go to class and put the time and the work in you can achieve anything.
