In 2014, I was working part time as a salesman in a phone company and I had to work in a project with a team, which has five members. I soon realised that I had a slacker in our team. This person spent his time focus on checking Facebook, texting and so on. Therefore, he always pushes his responsibilities on everyone, and it bothered us because we need to pull the extra weight of ourselves from the slacker. Although, I was angered by his attitude but I did not let it affected my attitude because it was wasted my energy and time on annoyed about my slacker co-worker. I had refused in the politely way, “ I am sorry. I wish to help you but I have got hands full.’’ when he trying to get my help to help him finish his work because he still had not do something of the project with deadlines. I managed to work my work only by not helping him of this slacking because it will make it easier for my manager to spot it what was going on. Certainly, the slacker was a warning by the manager and we had completed our project in the end. So far in this experience, I had learnt that do not let slacker distract and affect our attitude in the job.
My Future Planning
I feel that my skills, experiences and passion make me well suited to a career in architecture. I aspire to be an architect as I love working with the team and I love to solve problems and develop people skills. I gained communication and patient skills through my experiences of working and English course. Therefore, I believe that I would have a successful career in architecture because I have good developing people skills and efficiency behaviour in the team and I also dedicated and enthusiastic when trying to draw and design. I had previously considered becoming an artist but felt that I would prefer the creative and challenging work.
I believe that architecture is a competitive area so to pursue a career in architect, I have gained invaluable design and technical skills such as AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, 3ds Max and so on. Once I have finished my degree I intend to study a two-year degree for MArch and apply a professional exam of architecture. Therefore, I need to work part-time alongside my further studies, as I am not eligible for any financial assistance.
