Murray, Delaney. “The Push for Marijuana Decriminalization in Athens Starts This November.” The New Political, The New Political, 12 Sept. 2017.
This source talks about the ordinance and how misdemeanors are at the city even so the ordinance would not effect any marijuana related felonies that are dealt with at the county level. It also is about how the ordinance made it on the ballot for November 2017 because it got enough signatures. This source is helpful for my argument because it provides me with more information on how this ordinance is dealt with at the city level. This source was different form the others because it doesn't necessarily focus on the ordinance itself, but how it is passed and dealt with through the courts. This source will play a function in my paper as I discuss what the ordinance effects.
Troy, Tom. “Toledo Marijuana Decriminalization Issue Passes.” The Blade, The Toledo Blade, 15 Sept. 2015.
This source is about the cannabis ordinance that was passed in Toledo Ohio in 2015 and how it has effected Toledo as a city. This is helpful for my argument because it provides me with the information needed to compare how the ordinance has effected Toledo to how it would effect Athens. This source is different than the others because it is about the same issue but in a different city. The function of this source in my paper will be to help me make a point that how the ordinance has affected Toledo is totally different compared to how it would affect Athens.
DeWitt, David. “Cannabis Keeps Campus Cops Busy.” The Athens NEWS, The Athens NEWS, 10 Sept. 2017.
This source talks about how present and frequent law enforcement finds marijuana being used recreationally on campus. It also discusses how the misdemeanor affects people and how it would if the ordinance passed. This source is helpful for my argument because it provides information on how often law enforcement convicts people with marijuana related charges. This source is different than the others because it focuses on law enforcements perspective. It will play a function in my paper as I describe how frequent and how much marijuana is being found on campus
