Obese or overweight children become depressive or develop low self-esteem. They are normally discriminated against in schools. This can lead to poor body image and later on it can turn into an eating disorder. They might seem happy to you but deep inside they are not. My nephew has always struggle with his weight; he is a teenager now and has to buy clothes from the man’s department because they junior clothes don’t fit him. Getting involved with the details of their lives can make a huge impact in their health. Asking questions about school, keeping in you touch with their teachers and listening to their concerns are just ways of getting involved.

Young children’s are obese or overweight because they are over eating and not exercising enough. The most effective way to help our children is our own example. Maintaining healthy eating lifestyles and constant exercise routines will encourage kids to do the same. To help our kids beat obesity we should begin by making healthier food choices. They need to see us eating vegetables, fruits, and lots of lean protein. When we limit our own TV time we are giving them another example. Making small and easy changes over time will insure a long healthy life. Child obesity is a common problem in today’s society. However, it can be manage with appropriate support and guidance by parents. Even if a child is overweight do to genetics it can be controlled with proper alimentation and exercise. Parents are in charge of buying the foods their kids eat, therefore are responsible if they are overweight.
