The backwash of obesity is being spread not only on personal aspects, but also act as a burden to government. According to a study from the Medical Journal of Australia, the direct health care of overweight and obesity and the government subsides cost 56 billion and 35.6 billion in a year (Danny Rose, 2010). While the number of people suffering obesity will be increasing, the cost for the health care to do with obesity will increase as well. To some extent, government needs to spend extra money on hospital facilities and medical resources on the obesity patients. In fact, obesity is a preventable disease. If we can decline the number of obesity patients, it can reduce the economic burden to the society.

Last but not least, the relationship between obesity and hunger is the other area which authenticates the effect of obesity in the society. The linkage between both epidemics is about exporting food system. The unevenly distribution of food resources is the cause of both event. By referring to the speech of Ellen Gustafson in ted talk, we realized that the situation of obesity and hunger have become more serious in the past 30 years. Because of the exploitation of the food company, the cheaper the food, the unhealthier it is. As a result, many low income people will buy cheap, high calorie food to make their food budge last which made them really vulnerable to obesity and hunger.

In a nutshell, obesity is an epidemic to human race due to the influence of parents and the system of principle for the food company. These led to the changes in health, in government and in poverty. By evaluating the causes and effects of obesity, hope the situation will come to a halt before causing further scourge. Both citizens and government are responsible to take initiative to alleviate the problem in order to mollify the situation.
