Many sugared beverages such as sodas are sold in the same schools that have dropped regular physical-education courses or recess, giving kids less time to burn off calories. “Sodas are now on sale at 60% of middle and high schools nationwide, according to the National Soft Drink Association. Some school districts offer companies exclusive “pouring rights,” for which soft-drink companies pay so-called signing bonuses worth up to $100,000 and offer discounted syrup for schools to use selling soft drinks at football games and other events. About 20 percent of the schools have also opened their doors to name-brand purveyors of high-fat foods, such as Taco Bell and Domino's (Greenblatt, 2003).” Adults also engage in less physical activity at work. Most people in our society have office jobs and they gain no exercise from sitting at a desk all day.

We can all see what obesity is doing to our society and how people who are overweight or obese should be motivated to change their lifestyle immediately. Lastly, people can see how much fast food restaurants play a role in this epidemic and how it’s affecting the health of many Americans.
