Freshman year I began playing soccer for Phoebus High School, I found interest in the game in every way. I would go down the street to the local soccer park and stay out there for hours on end. Learning new ways to shoot the ball and how to dribble like the players on TV. Soccer to me was like an escape; Somewhere that I could just be me. That would begin my independence from my brothers. By no means am I saying I dislike them, but to me I needed something to truly define me for me. I started paying varsity football my sophomore year becoming the second string place kicker. Eventually I was the only triplet left playing football in high school because they found pleasure in Track and Field and volleyball. Yet again something to call my own. “When I discover who I am, I’ll be free.” – Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man.

I will always be a triplet it’s an eternal bond between brothers that can’t be broken; but I will be my own man. For me growing up a triplet means that I’ll forever have a bond that can’t be broken with my brothers, having the same questions asked to me was tedious yet I knew my brothers would be asked the same thing as me. Growing up a triplet has helped me to stand tall together with others but to also be my own man. I feel blessed to be put in a classification of my own with my brothers by my side.
