Pausch also mentioned “head fakes” couple times. He mentioned it first time on the story of football. Parents sent their children to learn football was not just want them to know how to play football, but want them to know other qualities like teamwork and perseverance indirectly. Another head fake would be the whole lecture. It was not simply to achieve childhood dreams like the title, but tell us how to lead our life. Just like Pausch mentioned about his experience to achieve his childhood dreams. He never played professional football or grew up to be Captain Kirk, but he played football in high school and meet the actor of Captain Kirk. For me, the goal of this lecture was not telling us some ways to accomplish dreams but tell us how to lead our life during the journal of pursuing our childhood dreams. Even he mentioned at the end of the speech, “The talk’s not for you, it’s for my kids.” This talk would be worth for all people in different age to watch.
In conclusion, Pausch gave this last lecture to show people the understanding of how to accomplish their dreams and make their life to the fullest. This man knew he is going to die in short period and he just want people to know how to lead their lives. He is telling that if he can be having fun in his life at the end of his life, the everyone should be living in the same way too. Enjoying what we are doing is the most important thing in our own life.
