Case study for: Paul X
Background and Overall social behavior:
Paul’s overall behavior is Narcissist, liar, and is very full of himself. He is absorbed into his own fantasy that he will try everything to achieve that dream he always envisioned. He also shows signs of discomfort, which was nervous fingers trembling and toying around with the buttons on his overcoat. He also occasionally jerks his hand that held his hat. Paul smiles all the time, looking around, maybe a bit paranoid that other people would look at him and try to detect something about him.
Paul is a troubled boy born in Colorado. He moved from Colorado to Pittsburgh with his father. He lost his mother, who suffered from a long illness and no one has identified his illness to help him through any of the hurting and despair he has experience. His father, teachers, and classmates do not understand him and don't know what he has been through.
School Experience:
In school:
Paul’s actions, in school, towards his teacher, was insulting, involuntary, and personal. He lies and tells stories to get attention from people around him that they believe him. Paul on every occasion lie, not for pleasure, but to be noticed, admired, and different than the others from Cordelia Street.
Outside of school:
Paul usher in at Carnegie Hall where he enjoys and loves the art and music. He also liked to fantasize about his wealth and how he wanted his life to be. He then worked at Danny and Carson after being fired from ushering at Carnegie Hall. Ushering at the Carnegie Hall is his only happiness in Pittsburgh. Concerts at Carnegie Hall helps him feel happy and alive than people on Cordelia Street.
Strengths:
Some of Paul’s strength is that he is very sociable and enjoys the arts and music in Carnegie Hall, where he finds his happy place. He has a big imagination and it helps him forget about his dad and where he is currently living.
Some strategies to help Paul and himself:
Paul can use some form of art to help him ease the hurting of his mother’s death and to make him lie less. He could write how he is feeling on paper or draw to express his feelings about the world and how he viewed them. He could also learn an instrument to help him express his feeling through music.
Paul strategies to help himself is to find a happy place where he can enjoy the surrounding without being disgusted by other people. He can also try to find someone who understands him to talk about his problems.
